教育省（Department of Education）は8月16日、経営破綻した営利大学のITT工科大学（ITT Technical Institute）に在籍していた連邦学資ローン利用者の負債残額全額の返済免除を発表した。対象となるのは、2005年1月1日から大学が閉鎖した2016年9月までに在籍していた連邦学資ローン利用者20万8,000人で、負債総額39億ドルの返済が免除されることになる。ITT工科大学は、在籍学生の就職状況及び他大学編入時の単位移行に関して虚偽の情報を広報したとされている。これにより、現政権において認められた大学学資ローン負債返済免除額は、約320億ドルに上ることになる。
