JSPS Science Café was held on March 1 at the JSPS Washington Office.
Tomoki Isogai (MIT Physics Department, LIGO Scientific Collaboration), gave a lecture under the title “Gravitational Waves -A New Era of Astrophysics-” (PDF(7MB))
Isogai explained fully about the central questions, “What exactly are gravitational waves?”, “How do we detect them?” and “Why is this discovery so significant?”. Also He addressed a new era of astrophysics that will be lead by the discovery of gravitational waves.
After the lecture, his talk was followed by lively Q&A discussions with the participants.
