米国科学振興協会（American Association for the Advancement of Science：AAAS）会員は、次期AAAS会長に、メリーランド州最大の歴史的黒人大学であるモーガン州立大学（Morgan State University、メリーランド州）研究・経済開発担当副学長で化学教授のウィリー・メイ（Willie E. May）氏を選出した。メイ氏は現在、AAASの産業科学技術部門協議会（Council for the Section on Industrial Science and Technology）メンバーで、過去には標準技術担当商務次官や米国標準技術局（National Institute of Standards and Technology：NIST）ディレクターを務めた経歴を持つ。また、新たなAAAS理事には、ペンシルバニア大学（University of Pennsylvania）アネンバーグ公共政策センター（Annenberg Public Policy Center）ディレクターでコミュニケーション学教授のキャスリーン・ホール・ジェイミーソン（Kathleen Hall Jamieson）氏と、フロリダ大学（University of Florida）科学史教授のバッシリキ・ベティ・スモコビティス（Vassiliki Betty Smocovitis）氏を選出した。ジェイミーソン氏は2021年に、また、スモコビティス氏は2001年にそれぞれAAASフェローに選出されている。2人の理事任期はそれぞれ4年間となる。
